Hew Parham is an Adelaide-based actor, theatre-maker, director, clown and teacher. A recipient of the Neil Curnow Award, Hew trained in the Pochinko Clowning Method (Clown Through Mask) at the Manitoulin Conservatory for Creation and Performance in Ontario, Canada.
Hew has created and performed a number of original works, including Giovanni at the New York Clown Theatre Festival, Rudi’s The Rinse Cycle at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and A Not So Trivial Pursuit, winner of the Frank Ford Award at the 2023 Adelaide Fringe.
His cycling play Symphonie of the Bicycle formed part of State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2024 season before touring regionally with Country Arts SA and received a Ruby Award nomination for Best Theatre Production Outside of a Festival. Hew also performed in re:group collective’s POV for Adelaide Festival.
As a performer, Hew has worked with companies including Flabbergast Theatre, Bunk Puppets, Patch Theatre Company and Windmill Theatre Company, with his work taking him to stages across Australia and internationally.
He has also directed a number of shows including Egg by Erin Fowler; Chameleon (by Britt Plummer/Frank Theatre); Dead Gorgeous: A True Crime Clown Show (Madness of Two, Adelaide Fringe Festival) and Light Minded (AC Arts). Hew is also the resident clown teacher at Flinders University Drama Centre and has taught workshops across Australia.
